Cleaning Black Wheels?

what should I use to clean them?

wheel cleaner...

I dont know about wax. If theyre powdercoated I could MAYBE see that happening.

This is a toughie. It depends on how they are done black.

For mine, annual cleaning I just use normal wheel cleaner. But when I go to wax the car, I polish the wheels. BY HAND please for gods sake dont try to use a mothers powerball on those things, just a light coat, rub it in, and try and get that black color to come back after its faded a bit.

What wheel cleaner do u use?
and no I’m not that crazy to use the powerball on them... I going to do it by hand
But I was thinking of getting that powerball for my chrome wheels but is kind of expensive so NA...

Oh and I’m not sure how they were done...But they look really shiny...I guess that is the clear coat :ne_nau:
All i know is that the rims are more shiny than the car.

Meguiars all wheel cleaner. As for polish, I use the Meguiars NXT unless im doing machine buffing job on the car, in which case I use the Meguiars #3 Mirror Glaze.

paarman97maro 04-26-2007 11:07 AM

yeah meguiars all wheel cleaner is the best stuff Ive used yet.. Its in a pink bottle.

CHINGON 04-26-2007 11:41 AM

I have the mother's mag polish, and it works great.

Id be careful with some wheel cleaners, some are known to rip ur clear coat off your wheels.....I was a victom of this with my 16" rims.

Bernotas05 04-30-2007 12:07 PM

Use a brilo pad  :p

Yup. Such as bleache-white or purple-power or anything like that. Dont get that near your rims. Now, I have to admit Bleache-white is the best at cleaning tires though.

I used some black magic tire cleaning spray... I was surprised for it to actually work haha... took all the dirt right off.

red9450 04-30-2007 04:45 PM

steel wool works well too.

haha i have some of that. comes out kinda foamy and when it gets on the tire it turns like yellow and nasty looking...that **** does work really good. i use that and then tire shine.
as for wheels i haven't really been happy with any cleaner that i have tried yet. i will try this meguiars all wheel cleaner when i get a chance to pick some up. if you have chrome wheels i reccomend mothers chrome polish. after you get them super clean you put it on like a wax and it makes em look soooo nice.

For my wheels i just have a separate wash mit and use the water i use to wash the car with. Works great.
