computer reprograming

does anybody no of any good places to get my 3.8 computer reprogramed?

sman 02-07-2007 02:48 PM

I have seen reprogrammers, like the v8 guys have but haven't had any luck finding one for a 99 3.8. I have found ones for up to 98 then ones that are 00 thru 02. Whats the difference?

EDIT: Didn't mean to jack ur thread, I was just curious about getting one since someone brought this up....

Phate 02-07-2007 03:20 PM

You really cant buy reprogrammers for the 3.8's much, or the ones you buy are near useless. Best thing to do is to take out the PCM and send it off to a company like www.pcmforless.com or www.texas-speed.com , I had texas speed tune mine, but now a coworker has the program and codes for it (like 5 grand worth of computer ****) so I can tune it myself.

Either send your PCM to PCM4less or Texas Speed like Phate said OR you could buy HP Tuners and a laptop and do it yourself. Keeping in mind HP Tuners is a ~$500 program, but its up to you.

Hypertech programmers and power chips are junk, dont waste your money them.

The real question is: why do you want to reprogram your PCM?????

The only reasons a PCM should be flashed is for nitrous, turbocharger, supercharger, cam or gear swaps. Other than those things, reprogramming isnt worth the money or the gain.

blue89vert 02-07-2007 05:05 PM

what do you need reprogramming for?

paarman97maro 02-07-2007 05:06 PM

So its like 150 to send in your PCM and have them tune it... all the while you cant drive your car for over a week?

You are not going to gain much of anything from a tune with those mods.

Correct.

As said before, you only need a tune for a major mod.

IE - Forced induction / Cam, etc.
