Door weight ? and window question

Is there any way to lighten the door ?
Everytime i drive someone in my car when they get out is always the same thing "your doors are really heavy"
i figure just because it is long.
Maybe i dont realize its heavy because i open and close multiple times a day. Maybe if i clean inside the door and get the gunk out but is there anything to do about that maybe change the material of the stuf in there.

Secondly.
My windows go up retardely slow (yeah i said retardely) and i hold the passeneger window and driver side button at the same time the passenger one jsut stops completely and my side will barely move.
I know its not the batery because that was just replaced when i got the car not to long ago and did that when it was brand new.
Would that just be as simple as replcing the motor ?

PS. someone wanna make me a new signature ?

Okay, First.

The only way your really going to make the door any lighter, is to take off the paneling, and I doubt you'll even notice that difference, its just due to it being so long, its about as heavy as any other door, just the weight distribution is different.

About the windows rolling up and down slowly, its a common problem among F-bodies and GM vehicles as well. Its your window motors, there are fixes to do it without having to replace the whole motor, but typically people just replace the whole thing with an aftermarket (make sure you go aftermarket and not GM replacement) motors.

PS - Motor replacement isnt a quick thing, it requires some drilling and such, so be ready for some work.

yeah phate pretty much covered it. if you like working with your hands and you can get them into tight places if need be than you should do the motors yourself.... if not i would find a shop to do it for you b/c it really is not fun. i know from experience.

hahaha that made me laugh ! :lolsign:

and phate thanks for the comment........helped alot and i think i will have someone do the motor since im not to familiar with any of that, nor am i familiar with much on specifics.

If it didnt cost much it would be koo to get carbon fiber doors made for them ( only if i was a master at carbon fiber)...... like the carbon fiber hood that have the regular shell around it like this corvette, if you look at the hood its carbon fiber, but it has the regualr silver shell on it

Mine are hella slow too, but im not up for all the work to replace it or do the mod that supposedly fixes them.

does anyone have aftermarket ones that go down normal speed ?

All aftermarket ones should be near the same.

From the factory, the driver side is powered fine when it is the only one operating but everytime you roll them up or down together they are both getting hit with low volatage. Hence why they typically roll up and down slower when you use both at the same time. Sometimes though, it is actually just a completely bad motor. There are numerous fixes out there without replacing the motor though....
