Drag radials

Need some drag radials for my project lt1, anyone have any advice? Looking at nitto and M/T but i don't know which will fit on my stock tires. Could someone set up a stock tire for me with one of these brands on it? I'm not good with sizing. And if you think its better getting a rim/tire just for the rears, what would you say i get?

All i want to do is stick to the ground, and blow out of the hole faster then the guy next to me...

Thanks again all!

get m/t or hoosier. we need to know what size your stock wheels are to help u out. i would go with different rims so u could get wider tires

if you are running salad shooters they will be fine. if you plan on driving the car on the drag radials all the time get nittos. anything else will wear out VERY quickly. a local cop has a procharged LS1, and i was talking to him tonight, i recommended the nittos to him a few weeks ago, he said they have been great, he cant spin 2nd gear now, the front end just lifts up. also like i said great treadware. i have them on my car but havent tested them at the track yet, but i read great things so i bought them. cant attest to any other brand but i know they will ware faster.

235/55/r16 is stock for my year. I would love to get nittos i've herd you telling me they are great on traction. I have maybe 600-700 dollars left that i need to spend before i can safely say i am ready to finish my project. My buddy the machinist helped out a lot, $350 for the custom work i want and he is the best around. I was waiting for him to tell me 600-700 bucks. so theres one half of the worry, the other is custom duals from meinakee (I forget how to spell it lol) i have the Pacesetter longtubes which i wrapped in exhaust wrap and magnaflow performance mufflers (x2) and i was quoted 300-400 bucks (that seems a bit high) so i really want it all to come together great and I think a set of sticky tires would top it off. I've seen M/T's that come close to my tire size but i don't know how far i can go away from the stock dementions (235/55/r16) if anyone has input you know i would be very thankful. Thanks again guys you are great!

Speed INC for example has Nittos for your size, 280 bucks. heres a link for reference. they are 245s but will fit right on there.

good prices, but i have some other brand of tire on the fronts, i don't want my rear sitting lower then my front is. My front is going to be extra low becasue of the diffrence in weight v6 v. v8 I am not switching the springs and shocks on the fron suspen. I want to see how low it really is if it gets bad then i need to swap the f. suspen. I love these nittos... i may have to order 4, got any ideas for nitto fronts, smaller size?

ummm, yea there are other nitto tires that are high performance but not drag radials, however idk how cheap they are. check out www.tirerack.com. i would look into some Sumitomo HTR Z II. they are supposed to be pretty nice and are really cheap.

i have a set of mickey thompson et streets on my salad shooters and i love them. i had some nittos before and i could never get them to hook good.

my MT et streets are 26x11.50

MT will wear quickly, prolly hook a bit better than Nittos but idk whats wrong if you cant get nittos to hook.

aarontracy 08-05-2006 04:13 PM

well the nittos hook ok on the street but i was getting 2.2 60ft times on them at the track.

Mmm... I want some M/Ts so bad ... I'm gonna keep a decent pair of street tires on my rims so I can roast them all the time, but I'll buy some M/Ts soon for the track. I'm pumped. :)
