Engine Light

The other day my engine light came on, on my 1999 camaro and i had it checked and it was cylinder 1 misfire. The yesterday it stared to run really bad and i had it checked again and this time it said ramdom/ multiple misfire. Does anyone have an idea what is goning on. :banghead: Do i need to change the plugs and wires or would it be a coil.

how many miles? have you kept up on your maintenence?

Our engines are known for misfires... Its not uncommon, but how many miles do you have on your car?

I has roughly 76,500 miles and i've maintained it pretty good.

I have 88,000 miles and no misfires with keeping up the maintance

wouldnt be a bad idea to do plugs and wires. Althought since this is just a random problem, Im gonna guess its the random 3800 misfire.

Misfires can be so many things its not funny. I cant in all honesty tell you something to replace.

DO NOT CHANGE YOUR PLUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had a similar issue a while back that i battled for literally months. it was simple. stuck EGR valve. threw a gazillion misfire codes, lean bank 1 & 2 codes, and then sometimes an EGR code.

so after 8 plugs, fuel filter, and hours of troubleshooting....29 dollar valve.
