Exhaust Suggestions

I am looking to upgrade my exhaust and I would like some product suggestions.

I wanna redo the exhaust from headers all the way back to the tips. Everything on the car now is stock. I still need the car to be able to pass emissions so there will need to be a cat, and an egr hook up on the headers.

I was thinking flowmaster from the cat back, but I have no idea for the headers and y pipe. I don't have unlimited funds so i'm not looking for top notch, but i'm also not wanting crap. Anyone have some recommendations?

s & s headers are very nice but pricey, headman is decent, pacesetters from what I hear don't fit anything they make them for

i have pacesetter Long Tubes and they fit like a glove... i don't know who you are talking to archemedes... You can get a 3inch Off Road Y pipe and then put cats on it... and if i go with a cat back but don't want to be 2 loud go with magnaflow.. and or get a custom 3inch intermediate pipe and go with a Older Flowmaster 40 muffler the single chamber and then some... now if you want loud and hp go with the SLP LM1 or LM2 those 3 systems are under 500 bucks... and with give you a decent hp upgrade

I'm not looking for anything super loud but I would definitely like something beefier than the stock sound.

Anyone else running an aftermarket exhaust in a town where you have to get emissions tested?

I am... and i don't have cats... if you have no cats and a car with OBD2 you can trick your motor to sayin it has cats and you will pass emissions

That would be nice, however they sometimes do a visual inspection with mirrors under the car here.

Some nice LT headers, hallowed out cats, and a magnaflow catback would sound nice and deep on an LT1.

Personally I like crazy loud cars, I had LT's, no cats, and the SLP Loudmouth catback on mine. But I then switched to the GMMG catback when I put the nice lumpy cam in there. Now I personally feel that I could not make my car sound any better than it does right now.

Well they only use the OBD test on 96 or newer vehicles here so since I have a 94I will be stuck with the sniff test. Which means I have to keep my egr, cat etc.

I was looking into the pace setter headers and the mid tube say they have all the egr and air hookups that are supposed to be on the car. Would going with mid tube instead of long tube rob me of much? Does anyone know of a long tube set that has all the egr and air hookups?

Long tubes make more power, but can sometimes reduce your ground clearance. If you want to keep your car on the ground then be careful with some of the long tubes. Mid-lengths you won't even have a problem with clearance and can sometimes be a little easier to install as well.

If price is not an issue, Kooks headers are considered to be the hands down favorite.

If you are on a budget like most of us, coated Pacesetter headers fit really well and look good for years. I have the longtubes and do not regret for a second making the purchase.
