Finally ! (56k beware)

Finally got the car back from getting a broken head gasket repaired.

While I was at it I did a few other things:

New (used) set of stock heads straight out of the machine shop
LT4 Hotcam Kit
Jet Hot Long Tube Headers
Jet Hot ORY
Taylor OTV Wire Kit
NGK TR-55s
Hypertech 160* Thermostat (w/ pcm programmed to turn fans on earlier)
Dyno/PCM Tune

I dyned 330.1 RWHP @ 5500 RPM and 345.5 Torque @ 3500 RPM
I was pretty pleased with that considering I still have the crap stock air box (which was being very restrictive) and I havn't done the throttle body bypass either.

The ground clearance is a bit worse on the headers then I expected it to be but its enough to get to the gas station, to work, to class. Only thing that i've really had problems with so far is my driveway. The car was lowered before I put the headers on, which contributes to part of the problem. I am actually considering returning the car to stock height but i'm not sure yet.

umm yum

MeenZ28 05-09-2006 09:16 PM

Where'd you get the OTC wire kit? Not the wires, just looms?

NoRiceInside 05-09-2006 09:28 PM

you can get it from summit or any speed shop. and dont think of using your stock MSD wires for the OVC mod, it wont work. you need custom length.

kizzle 05-09-2006 09:32 PM

Rims are Eagle Alloy (don't know what series)

OTV Wire Kit (including wires) was from Thunderracing.com $105.99

awesome. those are extremely nice numbers. what kinda catback you have on the car? and yes a 200 dollar K&N CAI will really open that thing up more.

kizzle 05-09-2006 10:39 PM

Flowmaster Catback that came with the car :( I can see GMMG or Borla in the near future. Sounds pretty good though, considering its a Flowmaster and all.

wow man i think we can be twin brothers because i blew a head gasket, and now im putting in a LT4 HOT cam kit, pacesetter mid length headers and y pipe, flowmaster american thunder catback, DYNO/PCM tune, MSD cap and rotor, MSD super conductor 8.5mm plug wires, timing chain kit, ACDelco plugs, ported and polished the heads, all new bearings in the crank/rods/ and cam bearings, new rings. I already have a Cold air kit. If you want a fairly cheap throttle body a guy on ebay sells them and here is a link to his store.

i really want to make 350 that is my goal!!!

Mike Jones 05-09-2006 11:19 PM

Very nice, how's the power now?

cody161 05-09-2006 11:26 PM

it is all being put on, i will hopefully have it done wednesday next week we ran into a couple of things that hindered us, like Summit sending me the wrong timing chain kit. and other little odds and ends, i took some pics today and my mom and dad still have a old 35mm camera lol so i will get them posted sometime. but as soon as i get the numbers i will let ya'll know. i cant wait.

Impressive numbers.

Ain't it funny how a mild tragedy, such as your busted gasket can turn into the best thing that's ever happened to your car?
