Finished my brake conversion

I got my rear brake conversion done today, I'm happy with the results. I'm finally got rid of those ugly drums. Hopefully everything will end up working good and not cause any problems. Thanks Force Fed Z for the calipers etc.
I got the rotors up front changed too.

Definately a huge improvement......NICE WORK

96camaro 05-29-2006 07:40 PM

Just to clarify, I didn't end up doing it myself, I took it to a shop. I was a little too nervous about totaling changing the brakes and messing with the rear end myself since I have absolutely no mechanical experience when it comes to that stuff. And I don't have any of the tools to do it. So I thought the safest thing to do was take it to a professional even though it cost me more money.

2Poor4Z 05-29-2006 10:18 PM

just curious where did u get the rotors from.. i think ima be in need of a new set soon

96camaro 05-29-2006 10:27 PM

Thanks for the compliments guys.

The rotors are from R1 Concepts on Ebay. They were $125 US for all 4 without pads, which I thought was a killer deal. I was considering the "Brembo" rotors that are on Ebay, but I'm not sure if they are legit. The company that sold the Brembos had some bad feedback too. So I decided to get these.

yea R1 concepts has great deals or even just search "camaro rotors" on ebay and they have a ton of different companies.

Looks good- glad to see everything worked out for ya- I hope I didn't forget to throw any bolts in the box..:o

paarman97maro 05-30-2006 04:38 PM

looks great man! How much did it end up costing you if you dont mind me asking?

96camaro 05-30-2006 04:52 PM

You can get the kits from TransAm creations if they have any for $150 plus shipping, that has everything including stock rotors, but no brake pads. I got the calipers etc. from Force Fed Z for a little less. Rotors were $125 plus shipping. Pads for the rear were $133 canadian from NAPA (should of got them from Summit or something, it would of been cheaper). Now the expensive part was getting a shop to put it all on, that came to $400 canadian. They had to put new hard lines in and new fluid in the diff, plus they charge for bleeding the brakes. So if you have the tools to do it and think you can do it all I would say save yourself the money and do it yourself. I think it took them about 6 hours to do everything. I'm just glad that it's all done now and those ugly rusted looking drums are gone.

wow man thats awesome. nice install

NoRiceInside 05-30-2006 06:50 PM

6 hours?! well thats what they charged you for. it shouldnt have taken them more than 2 hours...otherwise, they arent professionals :nana:
