Fuel Pump Location.

Ok, I'm about to try a fuel pump install but I've seen two guides that place the location of the pump differently.

I've got a 98 V6, does anyone know which photo shows the proper location?

Welp got a good size hole in it now, Turns out the V6 pump is a about 1/2" lower than the picture for the V8 pumps. There is an extra rubber hose though thatI can feel and I'm starting to get nervous cutting near it, its not in any of the V8 photos. If I survive this, I'll post some photos for you V6 guys.

Please post pictures,I'm looking to replace sending unit/pump via this method within the next few weeks.

Cuttin is done, I've got the unit out and the bucket dissasembled, hardest damned part right now is getting the new thick rubber hose attached. Also, if you use the supplied clamp it won't fit in the bucket properly. Not sure I need the clamp, its a pretty snug fit.

The TSP supplied package came with a rubber adapter for the bottom of the bucket, but not the top. The OEM has a rubber adapter to seal the top of the bucket. Is this necessary? Is it ok for the bucket to have fuel in it?

Ugh this is gonna take me a day longer than I though. I'm no mechanic from here on I'm sticking to computer lol :(

i just did mine and i think its easier just to drop the tank and do it it took me like 2 and 1/2 hours pretty much in and out, if the oem has a rubber seal then i would replace that its probably there for a reason but i dont remember which seal ur talking about

Im guessing you have a lift or a pit or something ^^^^^^^

digiphaze 05-27-2007 04:27 PM

Welp it cranked up. In fact its starting better than before, I used to have leave the starter on for like 4 to 5s before, now its just starts as soon as I turn the key.

I'll post the pic of the pump soon as I get it off the phone Sman.

Actually, the first pic is a V6, the second is a V8. The only differance between a vert and hard/T top car is the verts will have a support bar weldded to the area that takes up about a inch from where the bottom of that first pic shows. Locations shouldnt be any differant seeing as how it's still the same gas tank either way.

nah there must be a difference. look how far back the pump is located in the first pic.
