Gauge cluster bulb and socket questions, PICS :)
 

I have the factory guage cluster out of my 1996 WS6 LT1 and I'm trying to replace the bulbs and the sockets. First question, what type of socket do I need for the small openings in the pic. Second question, what type of bulb/LED does the small socket accept ?

they are sold as an assembly specifically for the gauge cluster, you can use a soldering iron and make a standard led work (don't forget the resistor though)

Actually that is not entirely true anymore. I have alrady found the same style of socket that let you just install the LED with no soldering. I just can't decide what type of socket or bulb it is so I can order the correct one from the site. It appears to be a #74 T5 or T1-3/4 twist lock base ? which will hold the matching small bulb or LED of your choosing. Somebody must know what the little socket style/number ? There is also a 60-74 which appears to be the correct twist lock socket for using 194 led's plug and play.

hmmm. idk, but like Arch said, i did it on my old 92 Camaro, bust out all the old bulbs and solder in new LEDs with resistors.

the bulbs in the main light sockets are standard removable 194 bulbs.. they make 194 based led's all over the place now.. there is no need for a new socket for the 194 setup.. trust me.. i know.. i have them in my car

Thanks for the input. I was just going to get new sockets because they're only .59 ea :)
