grinding noise
 

so my transmission is now making a grinding sound when i switch from drive to reverse or vice versa. The car is still running and hasnt died on me yet. Anybody know what this noise could mean. Its an automatic transmission too.

Sounds like you killed the planetary.

Means you need a new transmission.

i would imagine its an automatic...sticks dont have park =] haha

Dead on! have you been switching gears while still moving? Like going in reverse, and rolling backwards putting it in drive before stopping?

neutral slams do it too, as do burnouts
