Hood Liner/ Heat Protector?

Where do I get a new one of those heat shields that line in the hood of the car? I would love to know. :D

I'm sure someone will have one up for grabs, Thats one of the first things I did was take that ugly **** off When I still had my stock hood on.

sman 05-22-2007 07:39 AM

Why do you want one?

ITSA6 05-22-2007 07:40 AM

i bought one from the dealer cost $75.00 though

98CamaroZ28 05-22-2007 01:10 PM

my dad says he wants me to get a new one and he wont let me take it off because he says the engine heat will destroy the paint on the hood when I said it wouldnt, its his word against mine, so Im looking for one, I guess I will have to go through a dealership to get one.

2000v6cam 05-22-2007 01:14 PM

i dont know how u would have u dad tell u all this stuff about ur car, do u guys both own it or something?

98CamaroZ28 05-22-2007 01:19 PM

no, its just that it was his before mine and he always tells me, hey you should replace that heat shield...Im like ok what ever...He just want me to take care of my car properly and all that jazz...

Bernotas05 05-22-2007 01:36 PM

Tell him to stay in his lane and then take it off.

toofazt 05-22-2007 02:11 PM

Tell him it won't ruin your paint and then show him all your friends w/ Camaros not running the liner and their paint is fine. It is a noise dampener and fire suppressant. Has nothing to do w/ the paint ;)

98CamaroZ28 05-22-2007 02:50 PM

got it thanks!

The SS hoods don't need them because the hood is fiberglass.

97z2801ss 05-22-2007 03:54 PM

ive always wonderd what i could u to make it clean under their... ehh just get the whole car painted eh?

FORCE_FED_Z 05-22-2007 04:03 PM

Tony- I took mine off my first car when I had the stock hood on there and paint was fine- it just needed a little cleaning is all- but even paint that is a little roughed up looks better than that heat shield stuff...

Bernotas05 05-22-2007 06:52 PM

Yea I had some salt and **** up under it when I took mine off but it cleaned up good and shined up just as well as the rest of the car. I wouldnt worry about it just take that ugly crap off.

97z2801ss 05-22-2007 07:00 PM

i will.. maybe marrow or friday i suppose its not hard...

blue89vert 05-22-2007 07:21 PM

yeah my paint was pretty nice under mine as well. as for ruining the paint...what do you think the sun does to your car? it gets it pretty damn hot when it sits in the sun all day but nothing ever really happens

Nah only takes like 2 minutes to get off, It has them plastic rivets holding it on. Pop them out and it falls right out.

97z2801ss 05-22-2007 08:30 PM

nice
ill do it marrow then

paarman97maro 05-22-2007 10:50 PM

I might take mine off this week. Ive also been wondering what the paint under there looks like, I guess I can hope for the best.

FORCE_FED_Z 05-22-2007 11:18 PM

Whats the worst case? You take it off and it looks like crap- put a little elbow grease into it and then spray the underside flat black with a rattle can.

If you take the bolts out of the actual hinge then you can pull the hood right off and not have to worry about realigning it. Pick a sunny day, invite over a buddy or two, pop the hood off, clean it up, spray it, let it dry and reinstall the two bolts. A couple hours messing around is well worth an engine compartment that looks a ton better.

I didnt' think it would make as much of a difference as it did, but it was well worth it IMO
