How much for the conversion?

Well i think over the winter i might throw a 6 speed in my car, its a auto now, i want a stick i learned to drive with a stick i dont really like autos, how much am i lookin at to spend on the conversion, and what all will i need...

Only reason i am really doing this is my auto is slipping, you punch for low speed and it it revs high but it doesnt start pulling for a few seconds afterwards, you can allmost feel the tranny spining or somethin until it grabs its not realy bad but a problem none the less.

rough guesstimate around $2500 with a used trans

Bernotas05 08-22-2005 11:49 PM

i might look around and see if i can find a used one that might be hard though.... that might be the only thing i do to my car over the winter i had plans for paint and everything but i plan on moving so money is going to be tight for awhile

ure gonna need the center counsil too as well as a 3rd pedal it might be more then u bargined 4

archemedes 08-22-2005 11:53 PM

figure just a new trans is around $1500, then a clutch, pedals, master cylinder, possibly driveshaft (not sure if they are the same or not) crossmember, flywheel, shifter, console mods

Bernotas05 08-22-2005 11:56 PM

yea this is going to be way more than i want... maybe i will just wait till i pay the rest of my car off, and get a t/a or camaro, so since i wont be tearing my car apart for any mods i should have it payed off within a year... I like having the formula because not too many people have them but i dont know.. we will see in time i guess

97z2801ss 08-22-2005 11:59 PM

want a T/a get a hatch n glass off a wrecked on and some leather seats n what have you, seriously not to much diffrent and u can do it how u want it over the given amount of time as money come to you

MetalliCamaro 08-23-2005 12:03 AM

Um i want to go to a junk yard and park my car next to one with a standard in it and swap the parts into my berlinetta, I am not sure if they'd let me do it, but i think theres a way i could get some rusted out clunkers 4-speed tranny and master Cylinder and hook it up to my berlinetta at the junkyard by myslef with my own tools, or just get the parts and work on the car at home, cheap than 1000 Bucks... and then i could buy a new clutch disk and throw it in.. Should Not be too hard i dont think..

def a project ive thougth about too but the money just isnt there right now.. or the time..

but if im not mistaken isnt the master cylinder a part of the braking system?

and the slave cylinder is what you all are thinking of that operates the clutch and tranny fluid on a manual?
