How Often to Wax

How often to you guys wax your cars?

The first layer of wax is current drying before I put the second layer on. I did the three step proccess with the cleaner, polish, then wax. I'm going to keep the car under a good car cover while it's in the garage so when I bring it out it'll look good.

I just don't know how often I need to keep waxing it.

I used to wax mine around once a month and just wash it and use spray detailer stuff in between. Im not sure how much you should or not but I know some people that wax thier car everyweekend and strip it once a month to keep it looking clean. Im not sure really.

Once a month doesn't sound bad at all with the quick detailer in between.

There's absolutly no way I'm going to wax it every other week and strip it down every month though. That takes up way to much time. MAYBE I'll do that before CSF but I doubt it.

Yea it worked for me, and my formula is black. Once a month I gave it a good waxing and just used the spray detailer after every wash to shine it up and get rid of any water spots and such.

Ive read in many places that fully detailing your car (claybarring and polish and stipping and such) should only be done like twice a year. If you get some good wax, and detail it well, it should last a while. Like paul said, I usually do mine once a month also. When I go home next Ill probably wax it, and Ill wax it before CSF also. I probably wont do a full all out detail more than once a year to be honest. Takes a while, but I dont think its all necessary more than once a year.

Washing a detail inbetween waxes will tie over just fine.

Well I'm doing the full detail today. I've been doing it for the past five or six hours already. I just finished the second coat of wax as well as the interior. Right now I'm working on polishing up the wheels which is very time consuming but they look so good afterwards it's completely worth it.
I still have the really nice car cover I bought last fall so I'll keep that on it to keep the dust collecting down. I have the California duster for the exterior and interior but this'll still help out.
I'm hoping I'll finally have a car that I can keep looking good all the time.

Yes Chad It shouldnt be that hard now that you have the accord as a daily driver, You can save the camaro for the nice weather strictly. Thats what I plan on doing whenever I get out of the military.

Yup! :eleph:

I can't even describe how good it feels to not have to drive the car to work every day. I never even tried to keep it clean because there was no point since I would have to drive it to work the next day rain or shine.
I just finished detailing the exterior and interior. She's sitting under the car cover locked in the garage right now. That feels GREAT. After work I'm going to be coming home and detailing up the engine bay right now. I'm thinking the mini powerball would work really good in there.

If everything works out as planned the car will never be a daily driver again.

Wash the car about twice a week, and quick detail it when appropriate. Wax usually on sunday, and claybar and wax it once a month. Can't stand to have the dirt on the car. Do a full detail at the same time as the claybar and wax. a little much, maybe, but i love the way she looks when clean.

ya i am the same way...im am about dirt on my car, the way i see it you cant hurt your car by waxing, but do a coat when pulled out of storage, one in the middle of summer and one before you put it away....no polishes or details before storage...get a good "super hard shell" wax that will last a bit....if you lean against your car and dont feel like your going to slide off...then you need to wax it

amen to that
