I need help please...

I have run into an issue with starting my car. It is becoming a serious issue because I am moving here in the next week or so. My car will not start. I can not get the car to turn over AT ALL. I just put on a brand new battery and a brand new LT4 starter. What could cause my car to not even crank? It is a 95 Z28 6 speed. I am stumped. Please help me out. Thanks guys.

maybe the starter or batter you got is bad. If its not turning over, obviously its a power issue.

I actually thought the same thing, but I had the new starter tested. Everything checks out perfect. Also had the battery tested and tried to jump it just in case. No luck. Is there some sort of switch underneath the dash that could have went bad??

um...push the clutch in.

no serious, smash the clutch pedal down hard. see if that does it. if not, it could be the tumbler. are there any signs of starting? such as the lights on the dash changing or any lights dimming or do you hear a click? i dont really know what to say its hard to narrow it down. you can get a power probe or test light to see if its a wire issue.

but seriously, first try the clutch thing. thats happened with me on other cars before. you might even have lost pressure in the master/slave assembly.

I just went out and tried pushing the clutch firmly a couple times. Nothing. Whenever I push the key all the way to "start" a couple of the warning lights click off then back on. There is no clicking or anything.

could be ignition switch, the clutch switch, or wiring

Prolly a dumb question but, I assume the clutch switch is right by the clutch pedal??

NoRiceInside 01-08-2006 09:19 PM

the dash lights thing was what i was expecting. it does that when you start the car then they come back on, so it seems its a wiring issue or like arch said, a clutch switch. which my guess is as good as yours, clutch pedal.

Found it. It was the clutch switch. My Mom's boyfriend had a spare one in his tool box. Switched them out and the car started right up. Thanks guys.
