Idleing problem

My car is idleing way too high, its like at 1500 rpm and i have no idea why. idk if its the cold or anything but it does this when i start it sometimes. and today i got on it and when i let off the rpm slowly went down and when i shut it off and start it, it still does this. If anyone knows anything let me know.

Thanks

my car` does that sometimes and it could be a vaccum leak or a worn out throttle body. im not to sure though

Mine was doing that last year too, I did a full tune up and it went away.

Forgot about seafoam, I love that stuff. Give it a try.

seafoam is the best place to start, then go to tuneup

My teacher said seafoam sucks..... I forgot why ill ask when i go back to school but everyone i kno says they like it so i dunno .

Idk what seafoam is so i prolly wont use it. Other boards tell me its the IAC(Idle Air Control) and all you have to do is clean it, so im prolly gunna have someone do it.

FORCE_FED_Z Dec 23, 2004 12:00 PM

Well thats exactly what seafoam would do for you- it cleans out the carbon that builds up everywhere-

Go to your local NAPA- they should have it or should be able to order it for you-

that's why gm has top engine clean (gm's version of seafoam) that is a required maintenance item for the dealer to use with a major tune up, or if an engine has a miss
