installing msd box

hey guys i was thinkin of getting a msd mulit spark box thingy. just to help out my igntion stuff a little bit, anyways a lot of guys on camaroz28 mounted theirs behind their fuse box and it looks like a good place anyways i was just woundering how these install? i mean how do u hook em up? i was thinkin about getting the msd 6AL, thanx

you have to buy a wiring harness and thats about it. you LT1 guys are lucky. i need coil interface modules and junk

the wiring harness dosent come with it? does it plug into the coil or what

well the wire harness plugs the box into the coil.

they are designed for older vehicles, so to put one on a newer one you need an interface, I can tell you that msd's quality has been somewhat lacking the last year or so (some guys are seeing multiple failures at each track event, where a couple years ago you may not see one all season) you also won't see much difference over stock

hey steve since we're on the subject...after i get my cam installed i might have a problem passing smog. someone on camarov6.com recommended i upgrade my ignition system. i was thinking of some high output coils, wires, and plugs, but since the msd is made to burn fuel more completely this seems perfect. do you know enough about msd's digital dis-4 and whether or not its worth the 330?

If you go to msd.com then go to downloads, they will have a wiring diagram that will show you how to do it. It is very simple to do. The GM adapter is like 30 bucks.
