intercooler

I was just wondering if anybody knew of a place to fit an intercooler with a core size of 28x3x12 on a 1999 3.8l camaro. I want it to go behind where the grill is, but i think the impact absorber is there.

you can go behind it, you can also cut out the two squares in front for more air flow

honestly it looks as though you'd be blocking more air flow through the intercooler with that impact absorber there. I have, on my TA, cut into that brace that the impact absorber is on and mounted mine there. also a buddy of mine but the whole center section of his impact absorber out to reveil all of the intercooler, making it more effective.

You can easily go behind it- many many people have done a front mount including myself. Its not that hard and they look sexy IMO. That impact absorber is more of a support for the front bumper than a impact system.

I cut away most of mine when I did it on my car- its that way to go- leave enough to let the bumper still be supported but take enough that you are getting plenty of flow.

If you are making high boost numbers and aren't getting enough flow to your intercooler then it will get heat-soaked very quickly and be useless.

i cut out some of mine to but also left it for support... in the picture it wasnt cut yet
