jiggy jiggy
when there are loads on the alternator my voltage gauge goes jiggy jiggy. its only happened at night with low beams on, and i dont use my high beams nor the AC this time of year, but im sure it would do it then too.
its a good reading (14.3 volts) it just jumps around at night and i hear my fuel pump sort of hesitate and the lights flicker whenever it does this. its an autozone duralast alternator...im assuming this is the problem... any input? |
get a good meter and see what is going on, it's possible you have a margianl alternator (you have a load tester at work? run a test)
|
yeah we have this lil interstate tester, the DMM said 14.3. i ran the full system test on the battery, cranking, tested alt at idle, at rev, and both again with high beams and blower. it said it was all fine.

how many amps did it put out?

Screw it, pull out the big guns and buy a 200 amp alt.

i have no need for one.

just turn everything off at idle or watch teh battery drain (most of the aftermarket ones come with a warning about that, they won't charge under 2500 rpm's)
|
Main reason those alts come with smaller pully so they can charge while at idle.
