Just got a T/A
 

Yeah i just got a 93 T/A and my intake hose right before the TB has a tube or extension running down but then it has masking tape around that. I know GM didn't tape anything off what is this part what does/ did it do what is it hurting by not having it

Congrats on getting the TA! :thumbsup: I don't know TA's or engines that well in general, but it maybe sounds like that little tube (is it metal?) that goes into the elbow of the intake was falling out so the previous owner might've taped it in place? On my 94 camaro, there's a metal tube that pokes into the intake's elbow but the elbow is rubber.. it just wedges in there, if the elbow got dry or cracked around where the metal tube slides in, I can imagine that it'd fall out easilly.. just a total guess.

Its a silencer for the intake elbow. You can buy a plug for it if the elbow is still intact, or just buy a 1LE elbow..
