K and N INTAKE question

Is the horsepower really noticable with these(cold air intake)? Has anyone actually installed one, and how hard was it? worth the money?

mxracerbrian 02-09-2006 04:10 PM

paar has one......I believe it helps

blue89vert 02-09-2006 05:01 PM

probly a 5-10 horse gain and a descent difference in power. very easy to install unless you have to take the fender off, still wouldn't be too hard.

I have K&N Cold air intake that runs behind my headlight..Im about to do a big job on my engine by replaceing the valve stem rings and once im done with that then im gonna redo my Intake route.

I have the K&N FIPK, very easy to put in. Its a small gain, not a huge difference. But every little bit helps, lol.

5-10? lol we all wish....try more like 1-2 HP...
The more air that you can crame into the cylinder walls the more powerful the explosions are gonna be. That 1-2 Horsepower increase is better than none. But hey, if it makes ya feel better then keep thinking 5-10 (even though a whole freakin exhaust system (Magnaflow) DOES increase HP up to 13...Therefor, a simple "air duct" system (Cold Air Intake) is nowwhere near equivilant to a new exhaust.
-Owned.

Me and camaro94 have the same setup.

Its different on every car. I think you get get anywhere from 1 up to 7hp actually. The more air you get into the engine = more exhaust.

I have one...honestly i didn't really notice that much of a difference...i like the whistling noise it makes tho...haha. mine is all chrome and goes all the way down into the wheel-well.

SOMBirdV6 02-11-2006 04:03 PM

The most you will get from a intake is like 2-5rwhp thats it.

mxracerbrian 02-11-2006 04:20 PM

yeah i didnt think it would be too much

paarman97maro 02-11-2006 04:26 PM

I noticed it lets you get up to higher rpms when you punch it.

Camaro95V6 02-11-2006 09:58 PM

it really depends. if you throw an intake into a car that was already stock, then the gain won't be that much, but if you throw it into a car that has an aftermarket exhaust, then the gain will be more because intake and exhaust mods compliment each other.

blue89vert 02-11-2006 11:16 PM

My car got about a 5 horse gain I think with just a new open element, but i think it helped feed my cat back
