Little Help

This kid that is a friend of a friend is selling his 95 T/A a4. He wants 6k for it and this is all that hes told me:

The body has 115k on it but he just put a lt1 out of a newer car 5k ago and it had 35k on it, so the engine has 40k he says. He has all the paper work because it was done by a professional shop (not sure what shop though). He said that he put a new one in there because the other was getting too many miles, said nothing was wrong with it. He just rebuilt the tranny 20k ago and put a shift kit in it. It has a cai that looks custom to me but this has the same effect, down in the wheel-well. he put a throttle body on it but i forgot what kind and said it was 53mm I think but isnt that small?? It has a cutout with a custom exhaust and tips. He put the ws6 tail lights on it and put in the ws6 leather seats but the drivers one is ripped bad. ttops. The body isnt in the best shape but its not too bad for a 95. it would look alot better buffed and both bumpers are spidering. The drivers side is missing the body kit piece but I probably can get one on ebay for cheap. The biggest thing is that there is literally a whole where the plastic lower front bumper meets with the hood on the side about the size of a nickel and you can actually see the ground through it. other then that not a whole lot of body blemishes. It has new tires and crossdrilled rotors with high performance calipers. He has a whole system in it but he is only leaving the headunit. He says that the low coolant light comes on i think but i just need to take the sensor out and clean it. I test drove it a few times and the new engine seems like it was done all right, no engine knocking or anything. Thats probabaly my biggest concern because these kids dont exactly tell the truth alot. They always tell me how fast it is and i hear from other people but the owner tells me that he babies it and barely every races it. He is also giving me all of the stock parts and a magnaflow catback that I can put on if I dont like the custom system. Does this sound like a good buy? Thanks!

sounds like a nice car. home made CAI's are rather common and just as functional if done right. engine and trans sounds good to me. 53mm is pretty normal

first of all, there is no difference between T/A tailights and WS6 tailights or seats. the only thing different about a WS6 than the regular Trans Am, is the wheels, a ram air hood, a short shifter, a ram air intake system, slightl different exhaust and different shocks, springs and swaybars. also there is an emblem on the rear of the car. NOTHING else is different, so dont be fooled when you hear a car has WS6 this, or WS6 that.

for that price, it should be in better shape it sounds like.seems like it is kinda trashed out, if he would do 4,500 then it would be a nice deal, 6k is a tad high, but it depends if you are willing to pay that price. if the car feels nice and tight and the engine and drivetrain seems good then see what he can do for the price.

edit: the TB is prolly 52MM. LT1s feature a twin butterfly TB, stock is 48 on TPI cars and LT1s i beleive too, 52 is slightly bigger, then 58 for highly modified cars. normally tho, the stock TB will do just fine up to about 400 horse, nowhere near stock so you dont need it, take it and sell it on ebay.

6K sounds high for a car that sounds like its been put thru the paces pretty hard. For all the stuff that is wrong with it you will have another couple grand just getting to look right IMO...

Like Matt said, if the motor and the rest of the car is tight then perhaps its worth it, but from what you posted, I would be hesitant to buy it for that much.
