Long Time...Progress Pics

It has been awhile since I last posted on this board, so I thought it was time to give you guys a little update on my Z and hopefully start to stay a little more active. Some of you might know a few of the details on my build, but most will not know. I started out with a want to switch from the T-56 to a nice 4L60E. The tranny swap lead to pulling the motor to make the cam swap easier.

While the motor was on the stand getting the new CC503, Comp Pro Mags, Beehive valve springs and all the accomodating hardware...I then decided to lose a little wieght. So I ordered up a new K-Member from UMI and a ABS delete/line lock kit from SJM. A buddy of mine is helping with the work, and he only has weekends off so we are finding it hard to get time for the motor work. Here are some pics for reference.

What I started with :

I am just upgrading the stock motor. I will eventually go with a Victory Racing 383, but for now I just want to Cam, Stall and Spray the stocker until it dies...lol.

Right now I am waiting for the timing cover to get clearanced and the oil pump pickup to get tacked to the new Melling pump that I picked up. After those things get done, we are going to seal it up and powerwash the snot out of it. Once nice and shiney, the motor and new Performabuilt stage 2 tranny will find thier home!

sounds good dude. but why such a small cam? looks like a fun project tho:D

Sinister95Z Mar 5, 2008 04:10 PM

A CC503 is about the biggest cam anybody should consider with stock heads. After about the 503's 224/230 duration, the stock unported heads start to become a major restriction. I do not plan on doing any headwork until I throw in a new engine. Which I am hoping is going to be awhile...lol.

I guess that I missed something. Where is your car!? You had my favorite LT1 on the site and we were always in about the same stage of mods. Until you threw in the cam that is...

Looks good, how much weight did the k member save you? Keep us updated

Sinister95Z Mar 5, 2008 06:10 PM

The tubular K-member is suppose to be worth about 25 lbs. The combination of the K-member, ABS delete, battery relocation and some other things I am doing for wieght reduction should pay off in the end.
