Lowering a v6

I am about to lower my '93 3.4L Camaro and I can't find any shocks, springs or anything I need for my car. I can for the convertibles and the 3.8L's but not for my own car. Does anyone know a good company that might make something I could use or if the convertible's suspension will work well enough? I want to lower the car between 1.25" to 1.5". Any help would be great.

to properly lower a car you need lowering springs and three more thing: lower control arm relocation brackets (also called anti-squat brackets), adjustable torque arm, and bump steer tie rod ends. thunder racing sells a kit to lower the car an inch and includes the springs, anti-squat brackets, and the torque arm (Complete F-body Lowering Kit ) then rksport sells the bump steer tie rod ends here.

however, honstly, when i lower my car i'm not getting these. lowering springs alone will be okay with about a 1 inch drop. it definitely wont hurt to get these extra things down the road though, i will.

as for springs, there are many different lowering springs. eibach, h&r, hotchkis, and even some cheapos like springtech, which after doing research arent bad for 100 bucks on ebay ;)

but for anything you need for your v6 this is where you need:

*by the way can the mod of this forum move this to my forum, it is suspension, but technically its v6 suspension :eleph:

there is no mod...

the big thing after lowering be sure and get an alignment (the real reason for teh kits springs alone make the car next to impossible to align and make it unsafe to be on the road)

thanks for the help, I hope to be doing a lot of work on the car this year before I move out west. Suspension is one of the mains though. I have looked a RK sport but they are just soooo expensive. I will check out the links you gave me later on.
thanks

arch is the ASE testing really that messed up? I herd its written messed up.

archemedes 01-04-2005 03:03 PM

not really they do word things to try and confuse, but if you read it it's fairly easy

NoRiceInside 01-04-2005 07:34 PM

yeah i took some practice ASE test a while ago and passed. i was told it was easier than the real thing, but i'm curious as to what i need to take the real one?

archemedes 01-05-2005 12:54 PM

it can take a few hours or a half hour depending on how many tests you take, I took 6 and was done in about 1 1/2 hours I failed one the first time (I was working at a dealership doing the work and still failed) take a few pencils some places don't supply them
