LS1 Front Sways

Would this fit my car, or be worth it to buy? I have little knowledge on suspension, so Im just looking into upgrading little by little.

blue89vert 02-07-2007 05:08 PM

if your going to upgrade i would say just get a name brand bar or just get some poly end links from energy suspension or something similar

NoRiceInside 02-07-2007 09:50 PM

they will work, and its a common upgrade for V6s. any V8 sway bar is bigger than the V6s ones, but like gray says, spend the extra dough and get aftermarket ones. theyre bigger and come with poly endlinks. you can get a front and rear set for around 250.

talk to sam strano. he makes a hollow bar that is suppose to be incredible for turning and light at the same time. for rear bar, a factory 1LE, SS, WS6, or B4C bar will be one of the best you can get without making the rearend slide all over the place.

Can you extend my knowledge a little as to what they do... Why is bigger better?

NoRiceInside 02-08-2007 12:26 AM

well they are correctly called anti-sway or roll bars. they are designed to keep the body from "tilting" on turns. with the car tilting off the chassis so to speak the car has a greater tendency to loose its traction. with bigger sway bars the car will hold itself in the turn and be less likely to loose it.

however, when you have oversized bars that arent correct for a car, such as a very large solid rear bar, the car will be tail happy and never want to stay planted to the road since there will be no give to apply to the individual tires. you want some amount of lean so that the car can get a good footing but you dont want so much where it cant turn out of its own way. i suppose theres an "equilibrium"

ITSA6 02-08-2007 11:44 PM

all i know is that when they break it makes a big CLACKEDY CLACKEDY noise that's all i can tell ya

blue89vert 02-10-2007 01:18 AM

good info guys. this helped me out and paar as well im sure

NoRiceInside 02-10-2007 01:48 AM

yeah matts gotta good point. ive heard that about the rear too. which is why you talk to sam. he has the hollow bars in, i believe, 35 front, 22 rear, and if thats what he sells them in, then thats exactly whats perfect.

97z2801ss 03-05-2007 02:05 AM

yep id go with both stranos

Mike Jones 03-05-2007 02:15 AM

Strano's FTW

yosteff 03-16-2007 07:19 AM

the v6 and v8 front sway bar on the 4 gen are all the same at 30 mm...the rear on the rear sway bar on the v6 4 gen is 17mm and the v8 19mm....

You can get the 1le SS or ws6 front 32mm hollow and 21mm solidthis is supposed to be the best balanced combination...for the rear you can even take one from a 3 gen they all fit, on 4 and 3 gen. so you can go as much as 24mm from any junkyard...

i get one of these and it fit perfect on my v6...
