ls1 vs. lt1

what are the specification diffrences I wanna get a new engine but i wanna know whats gonna be the better choice for my 95 v6 3.4 camaro

thnx!:lolsign:

I'll have to find a chart somewhere that has all the differences but the LS1's make more power and torque at every RPM level than do LT1's. They also are more reliable, take better to modifications, and are easier to work on.

x2

whitecamaro96 03-20-2008 06:52 PM

yeah ls1 is the easy winner

69z-28 03-20-2008 09:10 PM

but the LT1 sounds like a god compared to the LS1:D

and if your planning on doing a swap into your 3.4.... might as well sell the car and buy the real thing. you have to change everything and it's a lot of work.

paarman97maro 03-20-2008 09:40 PM

least amount of modification for a 95? an LT1.

Worth the money and time? probably not. Its going to be cheaper to just buy a Z28.

palmcoastpimp 03-20-2008 10:50 PM

in that case is it worth beefing up a 3.4??? i love my car and i wanna know what people recommend

First95 03-20-2008 11:05 PM

Cat-back exhaust, and an intake are the obvious ones. The 3.4 is not a very modifiable engine. There is a sticky in the V6 section that talks about how to get the most out of the 3.4litres. Including different heads, headers, and some other stuff.... Go read it. And turbo is a possibility, but also probably more money than it's worth on this particular engine.

paarman97maro 03-20-2008 11:20 PM

you can stroke it to a 3.7! lmao.

ITSA6 03-21-2008 01:46 AM

there are swap pages online if you take the time to look. LT-1 swaps are tough i looked into it and ended up sellin my 3.4. i dunno it's just to much $$$$$ to do anything to em. just go the cosmetic route and save for a Z28 as well. that's your best bet

Have to disagree :P My LS1 sounds as a god;) But both sounds realy good with the right exhaust and intake mods ;)

1hottcamaro 03-21-2008 10:23 PM

I think its awesome when you see a nasty built up LT1 that can smoke an LS1...I think build up an LT1, itll be awesome. Most people now a days do LS1's (which are bad ass and I want one) but I think its cool to see people stil do up LT1's.

whitecamaro96 03-21-2008 11:39 PM

its alot easier to save up for a z28 or ss than try to make a v6 fast esp a 3.4

JonintheRedZ28 03-22-2008 12:13 AM

I'm with most of the others, if you really really want a V8, go buy a V8 car, the Fourth Gen Camaro V8s are a bit difficult to work on if you don't have all the special tools, mine was a huge annoyance lifting the car with an engine hoist by the front frame to slide the motor out from underneath, though you don't necessarily have to do it that way, but for the money, you can probably find a nice LT1 car for what you would spend swapping in an LT1 or LS1. I once found a 95 Formula M6 with headers, intake, and C4 ZR-1 wheels about half an hour from home for $4000. The color I wanted too, but I was still dumping money into my LS1 to fix the spun bearings. Although if you look really hard, you can probably find a decent LS1 car for under 10k, it's gonna be a 98 or 99, and probably won't be a low mileage car, but it doesn't have an Opti-spark.....lol
