LT1 Horsepower....Help Me Please!!!
 

Hello, Any help would be appreciated. Just bought bone stock 94 Z with 77000 miles and want to have weekend racer and still drive on the street. Already in place is rebuilt trans, torque convertor and suspension mods so what I really need now is advice on how to make the motor come alive without going bankrupt. Thanks for anyone's help!!!

a cam install, if done right with all the supporting mods will get you great power and still remain driveable. there are lots of steps you can go with a cam such as a little bigger than stock like an LT4 hotcam or cc305, then theres bigger and bigger like cc503, cc306, GM847, that make more power but lose some driveability. the cams i listed are what most people would consider mild to wild in that order. but with a cam there is a lot of other things that needs to be considered before jumping into the project such as head work, fuel system(injectors, fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator) tuning, and the rest of the drivetrain to work with a new cam. or you can stick with just the aftermarket bolt ons without going into the motor, such as headers, cat back or true duals, higher flowign exhaust parts, pullies are somewhat popular and free up a little horsepower from what i hear, electric water pump is supposed to give a little power, or what a lot of people do is just the LT4 springs and roller rockers but keep the stock cam. its way more realistic for a daily driver/track car because it only takes a day or so to complete whereas going inside the motor, can take time because of unexpected costs, waiting for machine shops to do parts for you, or running into enexpected problems that can set you back big time. keep talking and see what you really wanna do, then make a choice and go from there as to how to go about it. good luck.

basic bolt on's don't hurt (bolt on is anything that does not require the car to be out of commision for more than a day, and does not open up the engine things like exhaust and intake for example)

Another good idea would be Headers. Your car might be out of commission for more than a day, but it is well worth it. Go with some long tube headers and a Off road Y-pipe.

Well bolt ons are good ...headers etc and wake up the car. Stall you said is already there which i would say is a huge improvement if you can get the traction to go along with it. If you plan on every doing you motor in the near future i wouldnt do the bolt ons just yet because It adds up fast and nothing will help you as much as a rebuilt motor with heads and cam hehe but thats $$$. Can you do the work yourself? If you can then skys the limit pretty much.

you could do alot of things to add some power depending on your budget.but to start off you should do things like exhaust ,headers,cold air intake like k&n or slp,pulleys,suspension parts such lower control arms to help with traction,springs&shocks..but its up to you

haha, i was JUST going to say that before i saw your post. you can get a helluva a set up and make it very clean, safe, and effective for under 1000 bucks.
