LT's, ORY, and Rumbler?

I've been thinking about buying some longtube headers and while I was looking I found a guy who's selling a set of them with an ORY for a really good price. My question is do you think my exhaust will be unbearable with LT's and no cats with my TSP Rumbler exhaust?

archemedes 04-15-2005 10:27 PM

if it is you could always add a resonator

I'm wondering this myself. I think it'll sound great.....if a bit on the loud side. Have you checked out LS1 Sounds? There's a Z28 with Pacesetter LTs & ORY with the Rumbler (would be the same as my setup), and I think it sounds MEAN. Not at all raspy like the LM.

This is the one: http://www.ls1sounds.com/tsp_rumbler...ORY_00Z28.mpeg

I've listened to that a couple times but there's a lot you can't tell by listening to it on tape over hearing it in person. On my '94 when you'd start it up you'd feel your heart vibrating.

The big question is what do you define as to loud?

archemedes 04-16-2005 12:44 AM

recordings can sound different just because of compression and speakers I say go for it and if you need it quieter then add a glasspack later

if the rumbler is set up like the lm there isn't any room for a resonator anywhere

SLPowerZ 04-16-2005 09:22 PM

chad, i didn't have lts but i had an ory w/ the lm and i thought it was too much, if i'm not mistaken, the rumbler uses a turbo-tube which may be a tad quieter than the shotgun resonator slp uses but i'm not sure. if it is too loud there should be room on the y-pipe to have hiflow cats put on. mine was tight but i snuck em on

so there are no pipes?or is it all muffler? (I've seen people add a resonator to the lm before)

SLPowerZ 04-17-2005 09:04 PM

where?

archemedes 04-18-2005 05:20 AM

a guy in MI had one with 2 glass packs in the pipes going to the back pretty much under teh rear seat area (a glass pack is only about the size of a 5 in pipe) it came into a friends shop for a repair

SLPowerZ 04-18-2005 01:31 PM

glasspacks come in many sizes, normally i only see em in 12-36 inch sizes, but i never knew they were that small. putting cats or keeping cats on the y-pipe would work just as well for controlling sound and you wouldn't have to ruin the catback, that is crazy if they fit them on there tho
