MODDING

I have about 600 dollars to mod on my car "2000 Z28 M6" with... as of now its bone stock, and i was just wondering what would be worth spending money on to get faster in a 1/8 mile....

Thanx :)

First thing you have to do is get more air into and out of the engine.
Get a lid and catback. All lids are pretty much the same, as for the catback, hooker, magnaflow, TSP Rumbler, and the loudmouth are all known for good flow rates.

Gears do make a huge difference but they can get really expensive when you consider what it costs to get them installed and your computer retuned afterwards.
I was able to get my lid and catback installed in my garage in about two hours total time with minimal tools.

paarman97maro Jul 23, 2005 04:13 AM

yeah intake and exhaust are the easiest, and cheapest mods with the greatest gain, I agree

you would be in the mid 8s in the 1/8th. but yea get intake and exhaust first then go from there.

if you plan to mod your car for a while, buy a catback with a semi-decent muffler, becuase if/when you get headers, some people regret having the Loudmouth or the TSP Rumbler with LT headers and no cats. Any lid is the same, go with a lid and filter, and a catback.

gears are a supporting mod really, they help with drag racing, but hurt other places.Air in and out, especially with such a small amount to work with

Mti airlid, and a cat back are good ideas!

yea, i have ordered a slp loudmouth catback exhaust and am waiting on it now. the intake will prolly be next. i took my car to the track for the first time last night and ran 9.3s which isnt great. the track was very hot tho. i couldnt hook up very good tho. i normally launch at 2800 on street and hook up great but the track hooked up alot harder. i then tried 3ooo and a lil more but couldnt get trac.... any tips for launchin on track.. i got 18x9 ... like at what rpm

archemedes Jul 23, 2005 05:20 PM

you have to play with rpm, every track will be different, as well every day
