Need help...Identify this sound

Well, this morning I went out to go to a friends started the car up and noticed a strange ticking sound coming from the engine...started to reverse out and it was just hesitating to move. So I got out and poped the hood and you can hear this ticking type sound every so often coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. I checked the spark plugs to make sure there not coming off ( stock wires don't fit to well on that side) but they were all on. So then I let the car sit and cool down and checked to make sure the headers weren't coming loose and there on tight. So I have no idea what it is, but I do have the check engine light now. I was busy with my parents today so I couldn't take the car to auto zone, plan to do so tomorrow if nobody knows what it is. I did take a video of it and you can hear it...a couple members here saw it and heard it.

Well if you're poping the trunk to look at the engine... that might be your first problem.....

hahahaha grant. i dunno dude a tick could be a million things

Cant really tell anything by the video, Get like a metal rod and hold it on the valve cover and put your ear up to it and see if you could hear your valves or rockers ticking. Could be a bent rod or somethin. I cant really tell by the video its hard to tell. Best bet would be to see what code you are throwing since you have the check engine light on.

Why I put trunk, I have no idea...........

HAA HAH, guess you're worried, that's why u put "trunk". I agree with the others, hard to tell by the video.
Did u scan it already? is it a SES light on???
Looks to me as far as i can hear like some kind of trouble with the sparkplugs or wires (if u have trouble with hesitation), but could be a million things as they said. Good luck.

get a dark area (very dark) start the engine and look at the wires. I'll bet you have a wire arcing

Yea this is true, I didnt even think of that. Even if you just pop them off one at a time, you most likely will be able to see where it was arcing at. It will be burnt white/gray on the area.

dont' you have a DD anyway? just curious i guess

haha i love how you got the exhaust sound clip in there when diagnosing your engine noise :lolsign: what a man.

I can hear the sound fine, and Im with arch, to me it sounds like electricity popping. hard to tell from a vid, but could be somthing with plugs and wires... but yeah, scan code first to see what its reading.

:)

Turned out to be 2 spark plug wires were bad, replaced with with 2 new 40" wires from autozone. They have the 90 degree bend on both ends so the fitment is perfect. The car is now running smooth and no more check engine.
