Need help quick!!
Im planning on getting everything done tomorrow so I can get the car done in time for the show.
Ok when I have my flexplate on, it is touching the end of the starter pinon. I put the shims in and it still seems way too close. I cant think of anything else that I could do. Ill take a picture when I get a chance but has anyone else had this problem before? At first I thought I had the flexplate on backwards because summit told me that the side with the ledge around the outside goes towards the converter. But ever other picture I see is the other way around. |
are you sure you have the right starter? there are 2 bolt patterns 1 staggered 1 straight across. I had to change snouts on one of my cars for a similar reason after replacing the flywheel
well my starter actually has 2 bolt patterns....well I at least hope its the right one...your talking about the side to side movement right?? not front to back?
Yeah it's side to side (going off memory completely though)
yeah my starter has two bolt patterns for that.
then get a hammer
ugh this sucks.
It almost has to be either on backwards, the wrong one, or wrong starter
well yeah...i figured that out....Its not the wrong flexplate, I know that for a fact. Maybe Ill put it on how summit told me to do it and then when my **** blows up ill sue em
Oh and even when I do get this put together....I have to use my old shifter because summit backordered mine 2 times for a total of 2 months. It shipped out today and it will get here the 24th. I think The old linkage should hook up though. Itll just be a different shift pattern cause Ill just be missing overdrive. |
call jegs they know chevy's better than summit
really the only reason to put it one way or the other is clearance, the balancing should be the same due to how thin it really is
