Never trust a private party seller.

The bitch who I purchased my Z from told me it passed emissions and that she would bring me the papers and new tags.

I found out that it hasn't been through emissions recently and I can't put it into my name until it passes.

Here's to stupid ******* and a money pit!

Shots all around!

Bernotas05 12-26-2007 05:29 PM

Damn you got played. Yay for shots though.

archemedes 12-26-2007 08:14 PM

Always assume they didn't have it tested

imported_BlackZ28 12-26-2007 09:04 PM

It's alright though. The test wasn't horrible....it was just over the limits for the most part...I'm gonna get a tune up on friday and if that doesn't work then I'll get a new cat installed

archemedes 12-26-2007 09:45 PM

run some seafoam through it too can't hurt

imported_BlackZ28 12-26-2007 09:47 PM

Is seafoam very expensive? I'm sure it would help alot probably.

korndogg 12-26-2007 11:22 PM

no its not. Hmmm...seafoam..or a new cat? Id try the seafoam first.

imported_BlackZ28 12-26-2007 11:27 PM

Well, I'm gonna pay for a tune-up. After that I'll run some seafoam. Then take it to the emissions place.

archemedes 12-27-2007 01:15 AM

why pay for a tuneup? all it is is plugs, wires, fuel and air filter, save a couple hundred bucks and do it yourself

98CamaroZ28 12-27-2007 01:52 AM

yea, I always do most of the work to my car myself, saved 600$ by replacing my water pump myself... a tune up isnt that big of a deal, Im about to replace my fuel filter soon myself.

good luck on the emissions that is the only problem with private sellers you never quite know what is going on. That is one thing i am glad about with where i live. No Emissions Tests :)

Haha same here. Gotta love LT1 to BBK headers to NO CAT to open Borla. :D:D:D

V6Cam 12-27-2007 12:24 PM

You got shafted, but fo your self a favor and do the tune-up yourself

imported_BlackZ28 12-27-2007 04:54 PM

I would do it myself. But I need to take it to a "professional" so if it doesn't pass again I can get a waiver.

Exactly, if you fail emissions everything needs to be done through "professionals" and you need paperwork for all of it. I failed the gas cap part of the test and needed proof that I purchased an emissions legal one which was stupid, since they tested it. If it passes then who cares what kind I bought. Oh and I had to let them know how much I spent and everything.
Those of you that don't have emissions have no idea how lucky you are.
