new rotors

Im going to need new rotors pretty soon, Im pretty sure it would be the rotors, but im having little jerks when I brake. So, does anyone know of a good place to get some drilled/slotted rotors? I think I would like to get drilled/slotted since Im replacing them anyway... Unless someone has a reasonable point and says Im just wasting money. Im finding them on ebay anywhere from $80-150 right now. You guys have any reviews for anywhere, or places you would recommend?

I saw some that were painted at the hubs to match the car. They were on ebay. Those will be the ones I will be getting. A buddy of mine got some on we found on ebay, they aren't on yet but look great. They came with race pads too. They were like 220 shipped for all four and pads.

I would like to get all 4, but I have drums in the back :banghead:... Anyone here ever done a conversion?

I also have a question... Maybe dumb. Will Z28 brakes fit up the same... Im sure its yes, but Im not positive.

Jpack 04-05-2006 07:45 PM

Either I'm dumb or wasn't ever paying attention.......Is your car a V6 ? I thought the back of your car said Z28

paarman97maro 04-05-2006 07:47 PM

lol, yea its a 6

Jpack 04-05-2006 07:49 PM

Man, I listened to the video, and hell I never even knew.......lol

paarman97maro 04-05-2006 08:02 PM

bwahaha :sneaky:

But will they fit?

Jpack 04-05-2006 08:07 PM

I don't think the fronts are any different. You could always do the C5 conversion...

So will any of these do? Or are they not legit? Some feedback please..

SummitRacing CD/S rotors are only like $55 a piece
Jegs has RotoTech CD/S rotors for around the same price

93-97 camaros, v6 and v8 both have the same fronts. the rears, if v6s are equipped, are also the same.

r1concepts kicks ***:

i'd recommend this though:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...5115QQtcZphoto

the first link has free metallic pads, but the second link is just rotors. i'd get just rotors from them and get ceramic pads elsewhere.

I was actually looking at those... Are they sold in sets of 2 tho? I only have 2 rotors :(

I thought about converting to disks in the rear... do you know approx. how much it would cost me? Also, you seem to have many guides for things... any for disk conversions? I dont really know much about brakes... not converting them anyway.

4 Attachment(s)
I got mine from R1Conceptz on ebay. 4 rotors and pads for a little under $250. I would not recommend their pads. They squeaked really bad when I put them on. I ended up ordering a set of Hawk performance pads and I love them.

What all is needed for the conversion? By the looks of the kit it just has calipers and rotors and a couple lines. There has to be more to it than that. You would think that the drums would stick out further than the discs too. The reason I am asking is because I was wanting to do the rear conversion too, except I want C5 brakes all around.

NoRiceInside 04-11-2006 09:50 PM

well for camaro rear brakes it is that simple. i did it to my v6. its the backing plate, caliper, rotor, brake line, and ebrake cable.

for C5 brakes the front you need an adapter plate that is quite expensive, as if the parts werent already, then the rear i believe cannot be done, due to the vettes having IRS. however the LS1 rear brakes, whisch are very similar to the vettes rears, are easily swappable.

96camaro 04-11-2006 10:43 PM

Did you have to do anything to get the rear discs to fit, like drilling or custom brake lines? What year was the car?

NoRiceInside 04-12-2006 10:07 PM

1995 and like i said, no. the drum bake lines can be used with the calipers if you get them with the rubber lines they come with.

paarman97maro 04-12-2006 10:46 PM

holy expensive shipping! haha..

Ill probably just get the fronts for now.. As much as Id like to get all 4 and do the conversion, Im just tight on money right now.
