Okay New Question

This is what i was also trying to get out of the last thread but oh well....what should i get for rotors? or what would you recommend? i am going into this project totally blind and want to know what you guys suggest

2000v6cam 12-26-2006 10:39 PM

i would probably say to go with some slotted rotors (many brands) and if u go with a really high quality then maybe some cross drilled/ slotted but someitmes the drilling will make them crack on some cheap brand, i got the cross drilled/ slotted pretty cheap of ebay and got lucky so far ive had them about a year

Str8upChevy 12-26-2006 10:49 PM

I agree, the Drilled/Slotted Rotors are much better than the stock replacements. You can actually pick them up pretty cheap these days too. Did you see the ones I posted in the "What all did you get" thread??? I'll have to check the place I got mine and see if they have your application.

let me know arch..i think this is the next upgrade i am going to do since i decided not to sell it

Phate 12-27-2006 01:12 AM

Just know, rotors are not really going to change your stopping power. You'll see little to no change with drilled / slotted rotors. These days they are more cosmedic than anything else.

Now, if you went with a whole brake system upgrade, per say a Wilwood system, you'd nearly double your stopping power if thats what your looking for.

ITSA6 12-27-2006 08:39 AM

i am not really looking for stopping power but i believe mine are the stock ones from 94 and 121000 i think it is time i get them replaced

ITSA6 12-27-2006 10:29 PM

So what do you people recommend? i am getting no response here. everyone has disappeared

Phate 12-27-2006 11:14 PM

Best on the market imo is Wilwood, but they are damn expensive.

look for some cheap ones on summit. I got both fronts which are cross drilled for $60.. and the pads for 40. They work excellent.

96camaro 12-28-2006 06:24 PM

I got mine off Ebay from a place called R1Concepts, they're cross drilled/slotted and have worked great so far, they're cheap too, so I really don't care if one breaks cause it's not like I spent $300 on a rotor. I'm also using ceramic pads all around and it kicks *** now, way better than it was for stopping power and they look good too.

paarman97maro 12-28-2006 09:33 PM

Yeah r1 concepts is great! Someone just bought from them not too long ago... cant remmeber who.

I haven't had any problems so far, I love the ceramic pads because there is basically no dust.

paarman97maro 12-31-2006 09:23 PM

^ agreed. ceramic pads rule. My front rims arent black 3 days after cleaning anymore! :D

This would be a good time to upgrade to the very affordable 2 piston LS1 set up
