could be a number of things..first what was the temp?If ur driving at highway speeds and ur engine stays cool that could me ur waterpump may be going out,or ur fans.Maybe u should start by checking ur coolant level, the check and see if ur fans turn on when the should which is about 210 or at the half way mark..hope that helps

I mean like, what temp do you consider overheating?

NoRiceInside 05-27-2006 12:19 AM

its the fans. check for operation. let the car run in your driveway or wherever and watch the temp. when it gets to 220 go stand over the engine and listen for the fans to click on.

Another way to check fan operation is to turn on the A/C. If the fans kick on, they are at least still operational. If they work then and not when your car is starting to get past 220 I would say its your temp relay.

Could also be a thermostat. Some people get a little scared about normal operating temps. Newer cars don't start overheating until about 230*-235*.
