Whats the deal with the different packages, atleast I think thats what there called..... A4, M6, WS6, and if there are any others let me in on those too...

a4 and m6 is the transmission type and ws6 is for the pontiac trans am z28 ,SS,RS are for the camaro...im not sure what else for the pontiacs though.

chevy...
camaro - base v6
RS - v6 performance package
z28 - base v8
SS - v8 performance package
1LE - plain jain performance car. looks like a v6.

pontiac...
firebird - base v6
formula - base v8
Trans Am - v8 with appearance package kinda
WS6 - performance package that can be had on formula or Trans Am
Firehawk - SLP modified. highest performance option available.

thats pretty much it

and a4 is for a 4 speed automatic
M6 is for 6 speed manual

youre forgetting one...actually youre forgetting quite a few...

RS is more of a appearance package.
Y87 is the v6 performance package.

And yeah, theres a few more.

Is there anyway to tell these packages based on VIN or any other way, like the y87 or 1le?

RPO codes.

they will say y87 or 1LE. WS6 says WS6... i think SS is like WU8 or something. just inside the door theres a tag with all the codes and options that your car came with.

SS wont be in the RPO codes...instead theres a seperate SLP tag next to the RPO...
