Panhard bar
Hi, i'm gonna replace my panhard bar, is not an upgrade, just a replacement. I read the manual and it says that i need to secure it on the jacking points and then support the rear axle assembly to avoid any damage to the system but i think i don't understan this last advice.
I want 2 ask u how can i change it, what happens if i just change the bar without supporting the axle, coul it be possible to change it without liftng the car?? Any tips????? |
When I did mine, all I did was jack up the rear end of the car and put two jackstands underneath the axle. There is really no 'pressure' on the panhard bar. It just keeps the axle and rear end centered.

Support the rear of the car with jack stands- then just support the rear-end with a jack. That way you can move it slightly if you have to in order to get the new panhard bar in easier.

you want it sitting like it does on the ground to avoid a bind (the jack under the axle is a good idea though)

Thats why you use the jack under the axle to move it up and down to help align it, but if you have the weight on the axle then the car could shift side to side when you take the panhard bar off- then you are forced to try and move the car to try and line it up which isn't a good idea in my book.
