PCV help

I was cleaning my engine bay today and I noticed that there was a leak somewhere by the pcv valve. Well, upon farther investigation the hose that wraps around the pcv was busted. Now my dilemma is that I have no clue where to get that damn thing. Its to late to try the dealer but Im gonna try tomorrow, my question though is does anyone know the part number? Its a 2000 Camaro 5.7 to help clarify what Im talking about a bit! Anyone help would be much appreciated.

Oh the irony. I just wrastled with my MOTHEREFFING pcv valve for three hours.

i bought a new one to install and broke some stuff.. it was real fun.. not.

Anyways... since the one i bought was metal and didnt have the bend the stock one does I used a piece of fuel line i had laying around.. try that? be careful!

My PCV hose has a hole in it, about the size of a dime, where the hose wraps around the passenger side valve cover and makes like a 90* turn...I guess I should prob fix it soon, but I'm afraid it's gonna be a pain so I keep putting it off lol.

That is exactly the hose that is torn to shreds and is completely pissing me off!! ha It is quite the pain though!!

Same place? I'm thinking about rigging something to fix it with...maybe a spark plug boot or something.

Yeah, same place! I dont know what Im gonna do, its such a pain in the ***, thats what I get for attempting to clean my engine bay...sheesh!

A-RoN'sZ 08-10-2007 03:44 AM

Yeah...I noticed it a week or so ago when I detailed my engine bay, removed the EGR crap, and changed my A/C compressor because it took a dump on me. My buddy has a '99 SS and he had the same hole in the same place and just used a spark plug boot with some heat and massaging, and he said it works fine...so IDK what I'm gonna do.

I think Im just going to have to go to the dealer on this one, I hate it but I dont feel like doing more work then I need to on a damn hose!

A-RoN'sZ 08-10-2007 04:02 AM

Yeah...I wonder what the hole is actually doing to the engine as far as the effect on performance and such...or if it really is harming anything. I've been told it really doesn't hurt anything unless you have your car turning 6k+ rpms frequently.

there are two lines in the passenger side that make a Y with the pcv valve line right in the back of the engine... and i pulled that Y apart so I had to put a piece of fuel line on the end of it and stick it in whats left of the Y and hose clamp it.. I hope it holds.
