Port and polish

What can I expect to pay to get my head ported and polished?? I was thinking also of getting bigger valves like 202/195 what would I be looking at price wise?

For the price of a hand port/polish you can almost get into a set of alum CNC'd heads that are ready to bolt on.

But since you asked for a price, I would say a decent job will run you well over a grand..

blue89vert 07-29-2006 10:34 PM

couldn't you do it yourself for under 100

What heads are these? The 305 swirl ports? Those are some of the worst heads ever and I wouldnt throw a penny into em. If you're on a budget you can't go wrong w/ some vortecs

blue89vert 07-30-2006 01:31 AM

what engine do you have? if u got a 305 get 416 cast no. heads

well considering the 416 heads are 1/5 of the price and there are poelpe running 13's with them id say they wouldnt be a bad choice... but he same guy is now running 12's with vortecs.. depends on how much u wanna spend... id say vortecs...

blue89vert 08-01-2006 02:01 AM

1/5th the price? point in the direction of some brand new 416 heads that are 1/5 the price. Thought not

brand new... maybe not... but ive seen used vortecs go for about $500... and 416's for 100 bucks.... with a new valve job, guides, etc.... am i right with those prices?... i havnt really looked for heads in a long time...

JesasaurusRex 08-01-2006 01:57 PM

used? wow somebody got over

heres some large port vortec heads brand new complete for $499.99
http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/3129...inder-Head.htm

heres some standard port vortec heads brand new complete for $489.99
http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/3129...inder-Head.htm

course theres the added cost of a vortec intake manifold or you could use a standard one for a raised runner now as well since the heads have both bolt patterns.

But ya, i doubt you can find brand new complete 416s for 100 bux. Or even 200. Plus the vortec head design is light years ahead (no pun intended).
