Guys you think using a clay bar might help any?

1BADVETTE 12-19-2004 09:40 AM

idk if a clay bar would help a key mark, as clay bars are normally used to pull stuff out thats embeded into your paint, menzerna intensive polish would get it out if its just in the clear coat, if not that, try a rubbing compound then the polish, if that still doesn't work, go get that white paint pen color matched to your car from walmart or something and give it a shot.

archemedes 12-19-2004 07:48 PM

clay bar doesn't polish, you need to remove material to get a scratch out

TorqueDog 12-19-2004 11:46 PM

Clay bars remove contaminants and overspray from your paint. They do not have any blemish-removing qualities.

However, I do recommend using a clay bar on the area where the scratch is prior to using a cutting compound on it to buff the scratch.

archemedes 01-18-2005 12:59 AM

can you feel them with your finger? if so probably not

RFF 03-10-2005 02:50 AM

Yeah it isn't coming out. The scratch went through the clear coat and into the paint.

highflyinbean 03-19-2005 08:45 PM

I have taken some pretty nasty scratches out with a series of rubbing compound applications...starting with a heavier cut and working to polish. You have to use a good buffer and pads, you can find everything you need at any auto store like O'riely's, Advanced, Auto Zone, etc.
