my only guess is that the vent in the side of the cap wasnt blocked off and **** got inside and ****** it up...thats the only thing i could see happening...

well its called and optispark because the cam sensor is an optical sensor and it determines timing within itself.

NoRiceInside 01-24-2006 02:15 AM

that doesnt make sense because i dont even fully understand it :p

2000v6cam 01-24-2006 02:21 AM

ive never actually seen a picture of one but as i figured i still dont completely understand it lol

rice burner 01-24-2006 02:48 AM

could i use a vented type cap and just plug the hole? i dont think there will be a problem:confused:

FORCE_FED_Z 01-24-2006 10:31 AM

The main problem is with the opti is has to run all the high voltage thru it which only contributes to it going bad.

If you want to really eliminate the problem with the opti, check out a Delteq system. It will eliminate the voltage going thru the opti and thus will increase the life tremendously. Also by going this route you don't need an aftermarket ignition system which will also save you some dough.
