Rebuild

Hey guys, I got my car awaiting time to go into the shop to get my engine rebuilt and a mild cam put in. I've been reading around and have a pretty decent idea of what I want to do, any recommendations of things I should do or watch out for? I want my money to go as far it can and figured some of you have done this before, thanks.

Are you going with aftermarket peformance parts like pistons, heads, etc... or basicly just rebuilding it so it'll last you for many more years?

how much money u got?

Rebuilding is expensive, I'm in the process of doing it now. Ill have easily over a grand in machine work alone, plus the 2 grand in parts..going big costs money, esp if you want quality parts.

Well I have 7k to work with, maybe 8. I would like to get a mild cam and maybe some gears. My main goal is to have a fresh motor for years to come, but while I am in there, I might as well put something in, head work perhaps, just lookin for recommendations.

I would recommend a 383 forged short block, ported cylinder heads, port matched intake, 58mm throttle body. That should get you into the 420-450rwhp area with 400-430 ft/lbs.

With what Eric said, you should be able to get a fairly potent motor for the $$ you have to work with.

My advice is if you are getting close on your budget, make sure you get stuff that is harder to get to taken care of- i.e.- put in a good clutch before you spend $300 on a throttle body, you get the idea.
