my car has 115k miles. and im wanting to rebuild the engine this upcoming summer with some friends. how difficult how much work and time are entailed. i want to put performance internals while maintaing gas milelage(which im averging 15mpg right now in city while even sitting at 1200rpm so that blows) maybe 02 sensor not working isnt helping ya think?

If you know what your doing it could be done quick, if your a noob it could turn out to be a disaster.

Personally that is something I wouldn't try to do myself.

rebuilding a engine is no biggie if you know what you are doing,

i builded my H/C/I motor myself,, and the lsx engines are both symple and easy to build, but not a good first engine,

first engine i rebuilded was a 4cyl toyota motor from my old corolla,

wat are things i should replace but keep stock and things i should go to aftermarket parts

whatever your goals are for the motor, you should always get better oil pump, and stringer time chain, those are just things you want to know that are ok, also get stronger rod bolts (arp/katech)

i knewed when i was bulding mine, that it would have alot of power and would be used like that, so i got performance bearings, ls6 multylayer head gaskets, katech rodbolts, katech head studs, 160° thermo, ported ls6 oil pump and ls2 time gear,

i would do the same thing,

just sit down and think.. what are the goals for this motor? and then try to build the whole motor like that, then you dont suddeny buy soemthing expensive to get more power and the rest of the motor wont hold up..

i am realy pleased with my motor, i am just waiting for the nitous kit to arrive, but allready i am startet to plan another motor in my head.. and this time i would go big on cubes and forged internals,

with full respect for the project camaro forum.. (that i realy like) sign up to ls1tech and read every thread in the internal/external engine forums, along with the fuel forum, after some time you know exactly what you want, just beaware that the tech is a little.. all power forum, if someone has dayledriven a car with some huge cam.. they will call it a streetcam, i've also driven a DD car with a huge cam, and it sucked..
