Removing front calipers

i want to paint them and im in the process right now, but i took out the 2 allen style bolts, but they only come out about 1/2" and then they stay there. i can turn them still but they wont go any further. idk how the hell to get the calipers off now. im stuck, they dont move at all and there are no other bolts i see... any help please.

you should be able to pull them out once you get them twisted out, they usually are greased up inside so it should wiggle out

i got it finally. i had to get the vise grips on them, and hit the vise grips with a hammer, they were in there good but i got them. now im waiting for the calipers to dry:)

get new bolts, and some grease they shouldn't be that hard to remove

i put some grease on them and put them back in. putting them back in was a *****. i was getting so pissed off but somehow i finally managed to get them in. its a stupid design because the sleeve inside slides out of the caliper when u try to push the bolt through and it gets all messed up. now i have dirty yellow calipers. if they were clean they would prolly look good but they look like **** cause i got grease and dirt from my hands all over them. i shoudla put some gloves on or something. o well.

that sleeve shouldn't push through that easy the mount should stop it. Clean it with some simple green

its bolted in now and everythigns good. so dont fix it unless its broke. maybe its broke but it doesnt affect it. it will prolly go out when im doing 150 and need them the most :)lol. no i think they are fine, i really need to clean them now tho.

Bernotas05 07-07-2005 10:47 PM

Just make sure everything is right, you dont want to **** around with anything with the braking system, thats one thing i never mess around with. Allways do it right.

archemedes 07-07-2005 11:22 PM

yep can't stop with no brakes
