somethign not good

when i take off in 1 gear the car makes a whinning kinda screetch sounds and it only does it when i take off or have my foot in the gas when i shift like something is grinding together, when i let my dad drive it he said its not cluth at all cuz she will rip your head off so hes not sure he said its probly pressure plate or something but thought id get the pros advice on this one...???

archemedes 12-04-2004 10:10 PM

could be clutch, could be synchros, time to pull the trans and have a look at things

cwfblackz28 12-06-2004 04:55 PM

ahhhh ****

97z2801ss 12-06-2004 05:41 PM

Im gonna guess synchros aswell...

69z-28 12-06-2004 06:42 PM

x2, i dont think a clutch would make that kidna squeek. most likely in the trans.

cwfblackz28 12-07-2004 12:37 AM

well it goes in tomarrow so ill keep the info posted...

fbird42 12-07-2004 09:31 AM

tranny mount possibly

97z2801ss 12-07-2004 12:58 PM

if it was a tranny mount I think it would vibrate more.... and it would pop out... few other possiblities of the grinding could be a weak spring or a Busted Insert or teeth someware or the forkcould be worn....

archemedes 12-07-2004 01:16 PM

tranny mount is remotly possible, but on a manual is not really common and actual shifting would be harder

cwfblackz28 12-07-2004 11:48 PM

wellp the report came back i need a new cluthc pressure plate and throwout bearing becasue they are all sh*t :banghead: and i need to get my fly wheel turnded :nutkick: and if i dont and keep driving it will f up the tranny and end up replacing the hole thing so this is going to set me back in $$$ for a long while thank god i start new job on saturday  yepp crappy

cwfblackz28 12-08-2004 12:36 AM

its coo nothign you could do but you could point me in the right dirrection of a good clutch p p and throw out bearing and should i just replace the fly wheel my stock 1 is fine but is it wirth it???

97z2801ss 12-08-2004 12:46 AM

for sure replace the flywheel, not a big fan of refurbished things, Check some of the performance places like tybryne and ls1speed and check out what they have for man. trans's

FORCE_FED_Z 12-08-2004 06:03 PM

I wouldn't put the stock clutch back in-not really worth all that time and money only to have the stock one-

Stay away from SLP- I had one and it sucked-

CenterForce Dual Friction- Friends of mine had good luck with it

If you plan on makin serious power in the hear future look at SPEC clutches- I have heard good things about them.

Dependin on how bad your flywheel is, I don't think resurfacing is so bad. But it depends on your money at the time. If you want performance all around go with a lighter flywheel. If you are going to be drag racin quite a bit, the stock one is actually a little better for you.

Hope that helps-

Spec definatly makes AWESOME clutches, and not really that expensive, I had a Spec stage 2 in my Cobra and that thing hooked and jacked you back into your seat HARD!!!

I would definatly go with a Spec clutch, but dont go above a stage 2... unless you want your left leg to be strong as hell

get the flywheel turned, you dont have to get a new one, it would be nice, but it sounds like you are a little short on money to be dropping a grand into clutch, PP, and flywheel...
