I would say Ebay, and try to get a GM one, the fitting is much better.

find a wrecked ss with one

diz 01-09-2008 08:47 AM

how much do they run for?

ls1dave 01-09-2008 11:42 AM

id say a cheapie is as low as $450, a real GM one probably around $700.

I know im going off topic, but why not get something different like a cowl hood? it can look pretty mean, where an SS hood just looks stock (but still nice)

If i bought a hood i would go for the one Project Camaro has on his camaro. Same as the Dick Harrell camaro have..

I got mine off a wrecked SS, about 550, and it was cracked and had to be repaired and painted on top of that, most selling them know what there worth. I would also refer you to SLP where you used to be able to get them new. But production has stopped, so all the real gm hoods are on the road or wrecked somewhere.

im just not feeling that cowl look. i kinda want it to be where if anyone knows anything about camaros they'll think i have an ss

I know where you are coming from there, but if it is anyone who knows anything about Camaro's they will know its not an SS upon closer inspection...

If there is only one thing you remember about buying a hood remember this- you get what you pay for. Anything under $500 and you'll probably be unhappy with the fit/finish of it.

yeah i got mine from thunderracing and i like it alot better than my stock one mine isnt functional but i might make it later i just like the looks of the SS better than most cowl hoods on the 93-97 any way i might have gone w a sunco if i had a 99+

Couldn't agree more

diz 01-13-2008 07:42 PM

yea, thats about as low as i'll go

diz 05-28-2008 09:01 PM

i decided to scratch the ss hood, too many things to worry about (paint, proper fit, etc...)
So now im looking into getting a pair of headers. Suggestions?

whitecamaro96 05-28-2008 09:51 PM

alot of people go with pacesetter and thats prolly what i would get just because of the price but theres alot of options
