Stock Torque Converter

i pulled the shield off of the bottom side of the trans to take a look at the converter, and see if my rear main was leaking. when i took it off the converter was like a purple color. i didnt think much of it until now im looking to buy a stall and found that this company paints theirs the same color. so i was just wondering what the stock converter looked like and if i already have a stall.

i believe the company was oregon performance transmissions

stock ones were black (if they were even painted) all converters stall, you have an aftermarket one

thats what i mean a higher stall than stock, now i just want to know what the stall is, but thats impossible unless i get a serial number. cool thanks for varifying that

archemedes 06-25-2005 02:26 PM

yep need numbers since most companies use the same housing for multriple stalls

Dna383 06-25-2005 03:24 PM

now i just gotta take it all apart

some people will say to do a brake stand and what not, but that doesn't work just to let you know

Sounds like a Vigilante. They paint theirs purple. Is it smaller than a stock TC? The only way you will be able to find out the stall is it you take it out and find a number and the company or if you take it to a Tranny Shop... Some have Torque Converter dynos and they could tell you the stall.
