T56 into an auto Z28

Hey I'm new to this forum. My dad buys/sells cars and he has this white Camaro Z28 92-98 (doesn't have the new front end). It's an auto. The car has 9,000 miles on it and is pristine. It also has an aftermarket spoiler and exhaust. Well, I was looking at Cobras and older M3s and my dad offered me this car, I never really thought about it because it was auto, but seeing as this thing has such low mileage I took it into consideration. I was wondering how much it you guys think it would be to drop the Borg Warner T56 6spd (thats the stock tranny right?) and the clutch and everything into the car? (basically a full manual transmission conversion) Are there any problems you would foresee with this job? Thanks.

it's not too hard need all the parts off a doner car only problem is the manual is not real strong so if you do any performance mods it may kill it, also the car will be worth about half of what it is as an auto (doing major customizing like that always lowers value)

Manual V8's will break the fragile 10 bolt rear end that these cars come with.

www.ls1tech.com has good info on this subject.

Auto's are for sports cars though, that's why the Z06 and Viper only come with six speeds.

Exactly. That's why the world's fastest LS1's run automatics ;)
