throttle sticking at wot

My car has, in the last two weeks, stuck at wot six times. it's not the pedal or the carpet or anything.. it's something with the throttle body or the cables to it. it acts like it's on cruise control usually 5 out of the 6 times it has anyway.. once it kept climbing in speed REALLY quick but the others it does it slow or not at all but it stays where it is and if i put it in neutral the rpms shoot up.. the last time it did it it sounded like something was clanging in the engine right before i stopped it fully put it in park and shut it off :( one of the cables to it has a bump on it? i'm not sure if it's these cables goin to the throttle body or the throttle body itself that's screwed up and the throttle body says supernatural on it i'm not sure if it's stock.. anyways should i just replace both the tb and the cables? or could it just be those two cables? is the tps sensor bad? my car sounds okay again but right at that time when i heard that clanging  i was extremely worried

First off your car is no longer safe for road use. I would not recommend driving the car on any public roads, if it is goes into WOT while your trying to slow down at an intersection your screwed. I have heard of this problem before when installing cheap aftermarket throttle bodys (BBK comes to mind). Grant may be able to help you better, I'm guessing it is just a bad cable or a spring about to go out. Whatever it is this is one of those problems that will not go away and will get worse over time.

Yea i pry won't take it out again until it's replaced.. it only does it when i put the pedal all the way down so some of those times were just to test it always on the interstate where i wouldn't need to stop it.. actually it hasn't stuck at all when there's been any sort of traffic cuz i don't take it at wot when there is plus it's not my dd so i rarely do take it out if there's too much traffic. i tried cleaning the throttle body really well and it still stuck unfortunately but i was mainly wondering if i would need to buy new cables for it.. the ones that go to the throttle body.. or a new sensor. I'm going to get a new throttle body for it, but am unsure if the other things would also be needed. and when it did clang wut i had done was stop it real quick after i put it in neutral and park after i stopped and a millisecond later shut it off but it made that sound right before i had it shut off... it sounded fine when i started it back up but could there be any damage from it?

yeah grant had this same problem...and unles you want a 98+ front end...replace the throttle return spring.

If it happens agian just shut the car off in drive don't put it into N at least until the car is shut off and you will not tach your motor out.

Yeah that is the name I was trying to come up with.

How do I replace the throttle return spring? Do i need to buy a new throttle body or can i replace it separately? Should I replace the cables goin to it too since one seems not as smooth as it should be? and does anyone know how to do that?? thanks

it may also be the carbon and dirt build up around the throttle body butterflys, if this is the prob get some intake cleaner take off your elbow and spray it around the butterflys and open and close the throttle and let it sit then take a toothbrush clean her up and spray one more time re install elbow and your good to go :)

Yep, I use B12 Chemtool and it works wonders on the blades.

It's pretty clean.. I cleaned it after the second time or so and it doesn't stay open the whole way and accelerate terribly fast anymore but it still does it kinda more like it's on cruise control.. some ppl looked at it and said it looks like i need a new return spring... that it's not as tight as it should be so i guess i'll just go ahead and get a new throttle body.
