Too much heat
 

Hi, it's been a damn hot season down here in Mexico, the reason i'm postin' this is to tell u that my 94 z28 feels very hot in the cab when i'm driving and wanted to know besides the possible causes, if there's anything i can do to isolate the cab and don't receive some much of the engine heat, Thankx.

roll the windows down and go WOT for a few seconds

take the t-tops off

turn a/c on

get window tint

get some sort of heat wrap and apply it to the firewall

otherwise, iono

If the cab of your car is getting that hot because of engine heat, you have other problems that you need to address before trying to insulate your firewall.

my camaro always had alot of heat coming from the engine bay my feet always sweat however i never figured out the problem just made the air go on my feet is all

Well, If his Convertor Is getting raw/unburnt gas, the convertor will get Extremely Hot, Sometimes it will turn cherry Red, which is under the passengers feet/seat, that will increase Cab temp's..

I took the Rear Hood seal and insulation off my hood, to reduce temp's and to keep the Open Air Element clean. that insulation was loaded with dirt.

Get a Custom Computer Chip that requires a 150/160*F Thermostat to reduce temperatures up to 30%.. Change Antifreeze while your at it..

Get yourself some shorty Flow headers, and header Wrap. That Header wrap works wonders.. I mean you can touch the wrap without burning yourself.. however if you numb and hold it for a period of time you can obviously get burnt, but nothing too extreme..

Those things above will reduce temp's alot!! as well as add Rear wheel horse power. You'll def. Its not Just the chip either. Chips from Jegs aren't that great. All that stuff works together.. EFI Doesnt perform is best in heat. so the cooler air will help the engine and transmission if you have the stock fluid cooler..

Why do you need a custom Chip to change the thermostat?

A Temperature Sending unit reads the engine's temperature, that temp is sent to the ECM and, the chip inside the ECM clicks the fan on at whatever the Chip is programmed at/for. That chip has many more duties than just turning fans on..

if you put in a cooler 'stat without changing the chip, the fan wont kick on until the Stock chip Temp setting.. 220*F? So if your doing 65 everywhere you'd be fine if your radiator is in good condition. but when you stop a light the temp will rise and it will take longer to cool.

If I recall correctly, my old car would get hot when i was driving around in the summer. Perhaps its just my mind playing games, but my new car doesn't seem to get nearly as hot inside. The only thing that is different is my cowl hood is cut open in the back. I know it helps vent out the hot air since you can see it rising out. Its open enough that you can actually look thru and out the headlight buckets so I know air flows thru.

I would try and do some things to get lower your engine temps and try and get some ventilation under the hood as well...

get a good temp gauge for your coolant and see where you are there. Are heat shields missing underneath? Switching t stats won't really lower engine temps without computer mods (and then it just makes the engine think it's cold and dump more gas) flush the cooling system, degrease the engine, and apply some heat barrier on the firewall. Header wrap is great on a race car, but if you drive in wet conditions it will rot your headers (all the header manufacturers void warranties when wrap is used)

Park the car until it cools down alittle maybe til oct or nov.
